Call for Papers: Student Conference on Gender and Gender Equality in the Cyber Space

The TPO Foundation and the University Gender Resource Center (UNIGERC) are pleased to announce the Student Conference on Gender and Gender Equality in the Cyber Space. This two-day interdisciplinary event offers a unique opportunity for students to share ideas, research, and experiences on how the digital world shapes, reflects, and challenges gender relations. The conference will be held on November 29-30, 2024, in Sarajevo.

The main theme of the conference, “Gender and Gender Equality in the Cyber Space” explores the interplay between gender and technology. This conference provides a platform for critical examination of how digital media, algorithms, social networks, and other technologies shape our understanding of gender. The aim is to explore how digital platforms enable and/or restrict the expression and representation of gender equality.

The conference welcomes papers from various disciplines, including gender studies, sociology, philosophy, media studies, information technology, law, and other related fields. Potential topics include but are not limited to:

  • Gender Representation in Online Media: Exploring stereotypes and diversity in digital content.
  • Digital Gender-Based Violence: Online harassment, cyberbullying, and legal protections.
  • Algorithmic Bias and Gender: The impact of artificial intelligence on gender biases.
  • Privacy and Surveillance: Gender implications in data protection and digital surveillance.
  • Access, Inclusion, and the Gender Gap in Technology: Gender disparities in STEM education and internet access.
