One of the activities of the UNIGEM project is the creation of a gender syllabus for university curricula and programs. The syllabi have been made available to partner universities so that they can integrate them into the teaching process and offer them to students. Universities can adapt the provided material to align with their internal regulations, with the goal of making it applicable to their work.
This means that partner universities can introduce the syllabi as elective courses, in modules, or in a manner they deem most appropriate. The introduction of the gender syllabus supports the efforts that higher education institutions undertake to reduce all forms of harassment and discrimination, especially gender discrimination and sexual harassment, and to promote a climate of mutual respect, understanding, and tolerance between academic and non-academic staff and the student population. (The definition is taken from the Glossary and Thesaurus of Gender Equality Terms from the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), available at the page: EIGE’s Gender Equality Glossary and Thesaurus / Helsinški Parlament Gradjana Banja Luka – hcabl.org)
The syllabi developed within the UNIGEM project are:
- Gender and European Integration
- Gender in the United Nations System
- Introduction to Gender Studies
- Gender and Economics
- Gender-Based Violence
