In coordination with psychology teacher Sandra Muratović, the International Women’s Day was celebrated at the Second Gymnasium in Sarajevo.
During a class session for the III3 grade students of the IB program, Leonarda Miličević and Majra Rija Subašić prepared a presentation on the topic of significant women in history. Through this activity, they explored the lives and contributions of women who left a lasting impact in various fields, from science to social and political engagement, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and globally.
As in previous years, the International Women’s Day was marked in partnership with the TPO Foundation.
The aim of the activity was to raise awareness about the importance of women’s roles in shaping history and to inspire young people to follow their example.
Additionally, in honor of International Women’s Day, teacher Elmana Cerić held a workshop titled “If They Had Spoken…” with students from the III4 grade of the IB DP program on Thursday, March 6, 2025. This workshop encouraged students to reflect on the role of women throughout history and today.
Through dramatic scenes and storytelling, students immersed themselves in the roles of women from different historical periods— from philosophers in ancient Greece to workers during the Industrial Revolution, to astronauts who fought for their place in space. After performing short scenes, a discussion followed on how (in)audible women’s voices were throughout history and how we can change that today.
At the end of the workshop, students created and presented messages about gender equality for future generations.
