In recent days, the founder of TPO Foundation and professor of gender studies, Zilka Spahić Šiljak, appeared on TV SA and N1, where she introduced the FER School program titled “Feminism and Religion.” This program, organized by the TPO Foundation, aims to educate, empower, and foster critical reflection on the relationship between feminism and religious traditions in contemporary society.

The FER School, now recognized as a lifelong learning course, offers a unique platform for open dialogue on the challenges faced by women within various religious contexts, as well as the opportunities for promoting gender equality through dialogue with religious institutions and communities. Participants who complete the course receive a certificate, and the program is also recognized with ECTS credits, further underscoring its academic and professional relevance.

This course is led by the “Prof. Dr. Zdravko Grebo” Center for Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Sarajevo, in collaboration with UNIGeRC and the TPO Foundation. The program is designed to include diverse perspectives and provide concrete tools for understanding and transforming gender relations in society.

The school emphasizes the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to gender issues, involving collaboration between the academic community, civil society, religious leaders, and political actors. This platform enables participants to understand how feminist values can complement religious teachings, particularly in matters of justice, dignity, and equality.

The FER School brings together participants from various social spheres and religious backgrounds, offering them tools to promote inclusive values within their communities. Through a series of workshops, lectures, and discussions, participants critically analyze the mutual influences of religion and feminism and actively contribute to positive societal change.

TPO Foundation continues to develop similar programs, fostering dialogue on gender justice and promoting education as a key factor in empowering women in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region.
