The Gender Equality Council of the University of Tuzla, as part of the UNIGEM project and with the support of the TPO Foundation, held a panel discussion for male academic staff on February 21, 2025, at the University of Tuzla, titled “Unconscious Bias – Hidden Risks of Gender Equality in Higher Education.”

The first part of the workshop included a panel discussion moderated by the Council’s coordinator, Prof. Dr. Vesna Bratovčić, with panelists Alana Alagić and Senad Softić. After the opening remarks, an interactive discussion took place, engaging the participants of the workshop.

In the second part of the panel, student Melisa Smajić and third-year acting student Tarik Dedajić, from the Academy of Dramatic Arts at the University of Tuzla, in the class of Professor Damir Altumbabić, performed two scenes depicting unconscious bias in situations commonly found in higher education: a conversation about a master’s thesis between a candidate and a professor, and the work of a committee in the process of hiring new staff.
