Promotion of the Final Research Results of the UNIGEM Project Held in Tuzla

On March 20, 2025, the publication “Echoes of Change: Advancing Gender Equality in Higher Education in the Balkans” was promoted at the Book Corner of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Tuzla. The authors of the publication are Zilka Spahić Šiljak, Jasna Kovačević, and Anita Dremel, and it was published by the TPO Foundation from Sarajevo.

The book’s promoters were Professor Dr. Anisa Avdagić and Professor Dr. Vesna Bratovčić. Professor Avdagić, who is also one of the reviewers of this important and comprehensive study, presented the key findings and reflected on the significance of analyzing the current state of gender equality challenges at higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

In line with the title of the publication, “Echoes of Change: Advancing Gender Equality in Higher Education in the Balkans”, the event highlighted an optimistic outlook for the future, despite the growing influence of anti-gender narratives that spread misinformation and instill fear in the wider public about gender equality.

The promotion of the final research was also an opportunity to mark the completion of four years of work on integrating a gender perspective into higher education, as well as to present the activities and results of the UNIGEM project achieved from 2021 to 2025. Additionally, it was a chance to announce the continuation of efforts aimed at fighting for and promoting gender equality at the University of Tuzla.

The event was attended by members of the Gender Equality Council at the University of Tuzla, representatives of the academic community, administrative staff, and students of the Faculty of Philosophy.
