Students of the Sarajevo Secondary Medical School made a significant contribution to the campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence,” organized by the TPO Foundation as part of the UNIGEM project.
First, they created wall newspapers and displayed them in the school hall, followed by an exhibition of educational art posters, which were placed from the first to the third floor of the school. Both activities were coordinated by Selvira Mašnić.
The wall newspapers and posters attracted considerable attention, with approximately 700 people viewing them. Of these, 130 students were directly educated, while around 500 were indirectly reached.
In addition to these activities, the school also organized events aimed at raising awareness among young people about the harmful effects of gender stereotypes, the importance of tolerance for peaceful daily life through mutual respect, the dangers of violence in adolescent relationships, and how to protect oneself from it. These activities were conducted by coordinator Marija Knežević.
A round table was held on the topic “Tolerance in the Daily Life of Young People,” organized by students Nejla Džafović, Ema Halilović, and Lamija Nezirović.
Two workshops were also organized. The first addressed “Violence in Adolescent/Youth Relationships,” with 23 students in attendance, while the second, titled “The Influence of Gender Norms on the Lives of Young Men and Women,” had 26 participants.
Students of the Secondary Medical School also took part in a panel discussion titled “How to Live in a Patriarchal Society Without Significant Will for Change?” which was organized by the TPO Foundation as part of the UNIGEM project at the Jewish Community Center.
