Students and teachers at Obala Gymnasium were very active and engaged during the “16 Days of Activism” campaign, organized by the TPO Foundation as part of the UNIGEM project.

They carried out six different activities, all coordinated by Professor Enisa Klačar. In addition to creating a video with messages of support for victims and survivors, made by students Lejla Bandić, Hanan Lukač, Emina Spahić, Sajra Leka, Nadja Krečo, Lamija Zorbić, and Tia Žigić, a panel discussion was organized with psychologist and gestalt psychotherapist Senka Čimpo.

Through this engagement, the students sent a strong message of solidarity, raising awareness about the importance of preventing gender-based violence and supporting victims, while contributing to the global fight for a more equal and safer society.

Furthermore, students Sara Buza, Haris Hamza, Zara Kečo, and Imran Smailbegović filmed a short film titled “Support for Victims and Survivors.” The film addresses the topic of violence in romantic relationships and depicts ways we can oppose this type of violence.

A round table discussion on “Preventing Violent Communication and Conflict Resolution through the Education System” was also held, with participation from students of Obala Gymnasium, Third Gymnasium, School of Fine Arts, Textile, Leather and Design School, Music High School, School for Traffic and Communications, and Medical School.

The students discussed the importance of education, the development of non-violent communication skills, how to educate young people for peaceful and effective interactions, and the role the education system can play in preventing conflict.

Additionally, workshops on the topic of “The Status of Women Throughout History – From Ancient Times to the Modern Era” were held during Democracy and Human Rights classes. In these seminars, students researched and discussed different aspects of women’s roles in society throughout history, learning about women’s rights and roles from antiquity to the present day.

A discussion on gender-based violence and violence in relationships was also held, with guest speaker psychologist and gestalt psychotherapist Senka Čimpo.

The final activity involved creating and distributing leaflets titled “A Hand of Support for Victims and Survivors,” which were handed out in the Obala Gymnasium.
