A two-day educational workshop on gender-based violence prevention was held in Tuzla for police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton (TK). The workshop was organized by the TPO Foundation from Sarajevo in collaboration with the TK Police Directorate, as part of the UNIGEM project, supported by the UK Government.
The workshop aimed to enhance knowledge and sensitivity of police officers regarding gender-based violence cases. Led by academic Prof. Dr. Nedžad Korajlić and MA in Law Adisa Jusić, the training covered specific procedures in handling gender-based violence cases, guidelines for evidence collection, appropriate treatment of witnesses and individuals at the scene, and relevant legal procedures.
Approximately 100 police officers participated in this training, contributing to improved expertise and efficiency in conducting investigations related to gender-based violence. The workshop was implemented with support from the TK Police Directorate’s Education Department, as part of their professional development program.
Opening remarks were delivered by Siniša Vareškić, Head of the Criminal Police Sector of the TK Police Directorate, highlighting the importance of this training for improving the quality of police work in addressing gender-based violence cases.
