Next to the UNIGERC Center at the University of Sarajevo from December, 07, 2023. is the Advisory Office in the field of gender equality, also available at the University of Zenica. In the newly opened office, teaching and administrative staff as well as the student population can be informed about issues of gender-based violence and ways to report gender inequality.

The welcome speech was given by:

prof. Jusuf Duraković, PhD, rector of the University of Zenica,

prof. Larisa Velić, PhD, dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Zenica,

Neil Kavanagh, Deputy Ambassador of the British Embassy in Sarajevo.

The office will be headed by prof. Anela Hasanagić, from the Faculty of Islamic Pedagogy University of Zenica and Assoc. Aida Rizvanović, from the field of inclusion, coordinator of general, personnel and legal affairs at the University of Zenica Rectorate.

“Commitment of University of Zenica is to prevent any form of discrimination and violence. Accordingly, the function of this counseling center is to provide assistance, support, and above all recognition, to students and employees of the University who have a problem with gender equality. We do not stop only at support and help, but also at developing awareness about gender-based equality and violence, but also at finding adequate mechanisms for the protection of our employees and students” – explained Aida Rizvanović.

During the official opening of the Office, the attendees were addressed by prof. Dženana Radončić from the Faculty of Law of the University of Zenica, who spoke about gender equality policies. Also, this event was an opportunity to sign an agreement on cooperation with the Zenica Center for Women’s Rights. The Director of the Center, Meliha Sendić, expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to cooperate with the Office.
