Education on gender equality, which took place during June 2023 at the University of Zenica as part of the UNIGEM project, included all eight faculties of this University: Faculty of Islam and Pedagogy, Faculty of Economy, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology, Polytechnics and Faculty of Law.

Visit to the Faculty of Polytechnics of the University of Zenica

On June 14, 2023, Professor Larisa Velić, PhD, Coordinator of the Center for Gender Equality of the University of Zenica, visited the Faculty of Polytechnics of the University of Zenica and presented to the faculty management and other attendees the activities of the Centre for Gender Equality.

Workshop for teaching staff of the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Medicine

On June 22, 2023, at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica, a workshop was held for the teaching staff of the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Medicine on the topic of gender equality. Through interaction and extremely interesting tasks, the teaching staff discussed the difference between sex and gender, gender roles, the importance of using gender-sensitive language, the influence of gender stereotypes on social relations, and the modalities of promoting gender equality and combating gender-based discrimination.

The teachers and associates acquired additional knowledge at this interactive workshop and concluded that it is necessary to organize more such workshops and work continuously with different target and age groups, in order to raise awareness of gender (in)equality and contribute to greater equality in society.

This was the first of three planned workshops that the Centre for Gender Equality of the University of Zenica will organize in June 2023 on the topic of gender equality.

The workshop was designed and held by Professor Alica Arnaut, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, and Sumeja Bajtarević, B.Sc., Secretary of the Faculty of Law of the University of Zenica.

Workshop for teaching staff of the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economy and Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology and the staff of the Faculty of Islam and Pedagogy, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Polytechnics

At the end of June 2023, two more interactive workshops were held at the University of Zenica, organized by the Centre for Gender Equality of the University of Zenica, on the topic of gender equality, intended for teaching staff of several organizational units of this University.

The workshops were held by Professor Maša Alijević, PhD, and Assoc. Professor Aida Rizvanović, PhD, for the teaching staff of the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economy and Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology, and by Professor Anela Hasanagić, PhD, and Assoc. Professor Dženana Radončić, PhD, for the teaching staff of the Faculty of Islam and Pedagogy, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Polytechnics of the University of Zenica.

Through the workshops, teachers and associates became more concretely acquainted with the basic terms and challenges in the field of equality in our framework, and as well, with the activities of the Centre for Gender Equality of the University of Zenica, alongside with the role of teaching staff in implementing activities.
