On December 2, 2023, in the premises of the University of Herzegovina, as part of the UNIGEM project, a series of interactive workshops was held on the occasion of the “16 days of activism against gender-based violence” campaign.

The workshops were led by:

Ph.D. Martina Primorac – “About the 16 days of activism campaign”,

Ph.D. Karolina Tadić Lesko – “Programs for the prevention of domestic violence” and

Ph.D. Sandi Dizdarević – “Social absence of reaction to domestic violence”.

It was also possible to follow the workshops online.

Also, a working seminar for the teaching staff of the University of Herzegovina was held in the premises of Dr. Milenko Brkić’s Faculty of Social Sciences. The teaching staff was introduced to the UNIGEM Report on the training of teaching staff at partner universities in the first quarter of 2023, and an overview of the activities carried out so far with the aim of preventing and combating gender-based violence and ensuring integrity and quality in higher education was provided.

“16 Days of Activism” is a worldwide campaign that begins on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and ends on December 10, the International Human Rights Day. The campaign should bring the human rights framework into the focus of its work and use it to ensure that state and non-state actors show accountability for violence against women. The focus of this year’s campaign is prevention and the fight against femicide.
