16 Days of Activism: workshop, debate, and quiz at the Faculty of Law of the University of Zagreb (PFZG)

On the occasion of the “16 Days of Activism for gender equality” campaign, the University of Zagreb is organizing an online workshop, student debate, and pub quiz at the Faculty of Law (PFZG) with the aim of preventing and fighting gender-based violence. The events are organized as part of the UNIGEM project, in cooperation with the TPO Foundation, which implements the project in partnership with 19 universities from BiH and the region (Montenegro, Croatia, and Serbia) with the financial support of the United Kingdom Government.

The workshop “Gender (in)equality: mechanisms of legal protection” will be held online on December 16, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and will be led by prof. Ph.D. Ivana Grgurev and prof. Ph.D. Snježana Vasiljević. You can follow and participate in the workshop via the Google Meet Link: https://meet.google.com/kfb-mvso-pju.

The wide reach of the Internet, the rapid expansion, the constant availability of information, and the widespread use of social networks have led to the emergence of violence against women and girls on the Internet as a growing global problem with potentially significant social and economic consequences. Research shows that every tenth woman has experienced some form of violence on the Internet by the age of 15. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that the digital public space is a safe and empowering place for everyone, especially women and girls.

This very problem is the topic of the student debate “Violence against women on the Internet”, which, along with the pub quiz “Gender Equality”, will be held on December 20, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Hall 7 (2nd Floor) of Faculty of Law in Zagreb.
